Root execution via IP fragment hole overwrite

Out-of-bounds write in U-Boot on Siemens RUGGEDCOM ROX before 2.17.1 allows attackers on the local network to obtain root execution. In __net_defragment, a 21–27-byte fragmented IP datagram makes len divided by eight truncate to zero, so memcpy overwrites hole metadata that a second fragment turns into a controlled out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires CONFIG_IP_DEFRAG, an active U-Boot Ethernet path, and local-network adjacency; demonstrated impact includes a crash and controlled memory writes.
