Privileged code execution via malformed NTFS metadata

Heap-based buffer overflow in NTFS-3G through 2021.8.22 allows local users to execute privileged code via a crafted NTFS image. The ntfs_names_full_collate routine compares attacker-controlled filename metadata without adequate bounds validation, overflowing a heap buffer. Exploitation requires local access to a setuid-root binary or physical access to a system configured to process attached NTFS storage automatically.
