Browser script execution via unfiltered usernames
Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Stored XSS in ZoneMinder 1.36.12 allows remote authenticated users to run HTML or JavaScript when another user logs out. The application accepts markup in the Username field and later renders the stored value without HTML neutralization in the logged-in-user interface. An attacker must create a crafted username and wait for an administrator or another user permitted to view logged-in users to select Logout, which runs the payload in that victim's browser context.
