Bluetooth MAC disclosure via unrestricted intent broadcast
Published Jun 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Samsung Mobile Devices Q(10), R(11), and S(12) allows local users to read a connected Bluetooth device's MAC address. The activateVoiceRecognitionWithDevice function broadcasts an Intent containing the BluetoothDevice object without restricting receivers by permission. An untrusted local application can receive the broadcast when voice recognition is activated; the reported consequence is limited to exposure of the connected device identifier.
