CVE-2022-3068Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Read-only plugin control via misassigned permission role

Published Sep 21, 2022 · Updated May 28, 2025

Privilege escalation in OctoPrint before 1.8.3 allows remote authenticated users with read-only access to manage installed plugins. The Plugin Manager LIST permission assigns the manage role instead of the list role, exposing enable, disable, uninstall, and settings-deletion actions. Read-only or operator credentials are required; plugin installation is not exposed, but existing plugins and orphaned settings can be altered.
