Command execution via shell-parsed password reset
Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in Gradle Enterprise Admin CLI before 1.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands during password reset. The system reset-system-password command passes the supplied password through a command shell and as a script argument instead of treating it solely as data. Exploitation requires Kubernetes administration privileges; injected commands run in an enterprise-app pod, and the password is briefly exposed in its process list.
