Heap corruption via SplitScreen use-after-free
Published Sep 26, 2022 · Updated May 21, 2025
Use-after-free in SplitScreen in Google Chrome on Chrome OS Lacros before 105.0.5195.52 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory. The SplitScreen component accesses an object after its lifetime ends while processing a crafted HTML page, leaving heap memory in a corruptible state. Exploitation requires no authentication, but a user must open the page and perform specific UI interactions; published evidence does not establish code execution.
