Arbitrary file read via unfiltered path parameter
Published May 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in ginadmin 0.1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through the system-log view endpoint. The View handler appends the path query parameter to the application root and passes the result directly to os.Open without restricting the resolved path to the logs directory. A network request containing traversal segments is sufficient to escape that directory; the reported consequence is limited to reading files accessible to the server process.
