Unauthenticated code execution via default ViewState key
Published Jun 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
ViewState deserialization in Proietti Tech Planet Time Enterprise allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted HTTP POST request. A default validationKey in web.config lets an attacker sign a malicious serialized ViewState payload that the application accepts and deserializes. No authentication or user interaction is required on versions 3.3.0.0, 3.3.1.0, 4.0.0.0, 4.1.0.0, 4.2.0.0, and 4.2.0.1; exploitation opens an interactive shell on the Windows server.
