Authenticated command execution via diagnostics host field
Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TRENDnet TEW-831DR firmware 1.0 601.130.1.1356 allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands. The diagnostics page passes the host/domain value used by ping or traceroute to a shell without blocking command separators such as a semicolon. Valid management credentials and access to the web interface are required; injected commands can enable telnetd and expose a root shell on the LAN.
