Administrative takeover via forged credential-change request
Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in the TRENDnet TEW-831DR 1.0 601.130.1.1356 web interface allows remote attackers to change credentials. The credential-change handler accepts new username and password values without requiring the existing password, so a forged browser request overwrites both values. Exploitation requires an administrator to remain signed in and interact with attacker-controlled web content; successful exploitation enables router takeover.
