Client-host privilege escalation via crafted artifact stanza
Published May 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Privilege escalation in HashiCorp Nomad and Nomad Enterprise 0.2.0 through 1.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to control client hosts. The artifact stanza passes attacker-controlled download specifications to go-getter, whose HTTP-header, path, symlink, and command handling permits configuration bypass and arbitrary host access. Job-submission capability is required, and the resulting access crosses from a scheduled job into the client agent host.
