Code execution via unsigned firmware images

Improper firmware verification in Honeywell Experion PKS Safety Manager 5.02 allows attackers to execute code through malicious firmware images. The firmware-update path accepts unsigned images and relies only on insecure checksums, allowing the Enea POLO bootloader to install attacker-controlled firmware. Exploitation requires DCOM-232/485 access and a controller reboot, reached physically, through a compromised engineering workstation, or through an exposed serial-to-Ethernet gateway.
