CVE-2022-3031Network attack vector

Password guessing via undisclosed authentication endpoint

Published Oct 17, 2022 · Updated May 13, 2025

Authentication throttling failure in GitLab CE/EE allows remote attackers to guess user passwords via crafted endpoint requests. GitLab has not disclosed the endpoint or the specific operation that fails to restrict excessive authentication attempts. The requests require no prior privileges and remain effective against accounts with two-factor authentication; affected releases are before 15.1.6, 15.2 through 15.2.3, and 15.3 through 15.3.1.
