Root command execution after system-file modification
Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Improper privilege management in Fortinet FortiSOAR before 7.2.1 allows local users with GUI access to execute Python commands as root. The public record does not identify the file or function that converts a prior system-file modification into privileged Python execution. Exploitation requires GUI access and a separate ability to modify system files, after which attacker-controlled Python commands run with root privileges.
