Unauthenticated source disclosure via virtual filesystem reads
Published May 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in PyScript through 2022-05-04 allows remote attackers to read bundled Python library source through PyScript code. A crafted py-script block calls Python's open() on paths in the browser's Emscripten virtual filesystem and prints the returned library contents. The page must execute attacker-supplied PyScript; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of files bundled inside that browser-side runtime, not server files.
