Authenticated code installation via unsigned application images
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Application integrity failure in Motorola ACE1000 RTUs through 2022-05-02 allows remote authenticated users to install custom code. Application installation through the Easy Configurator Web UI, STS, or C toolkit accepts PLX, DAT, APP, and CRC images without a cryptographic signature and relies only on insecure checksums. Access to an engineering interface is required, and an accepted malicious image can replace trusted application logic on the RTU.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
