Unauthenticated configuration changes via crafted network packets
Published Jul 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Honeywell Alerton Ascent Control Module firmware through 2022-05-04 allows remote attackers to alter configuration. The controller accepts a crafted network packet, stores its configuration data, and implements the new settings without authenticating the sender. The write changes controller behavior while the user interface continues to display the old configuration, leaving operators unaware of the active settings.
