Remote code execution via PPTP race condition
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025
Race condition in Microsoft Windows PPTP allows remote attackers to execute code by sending a crafted packet to a PPTP server. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected function or the shared resource whose synchronization failure creates the exploitable timing window. Exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction, but the attacker must reach a listening PPTP server and win the race.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
