CVE-2022-30196Network attack vector

Unauthenticated TLS server crash via crafted traffic

Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Denial of service in Microsoft Windows Secure Channel allows remote attackers to crash a TLS server with crafted network traffic. Microsoft has not published the faulty Secure Channel operation or malformed TLS field that triggers the crash. The target must expose a TLS server that uses Secure Channel; exploitation requires no authentication and can interrupt that service while disclosing one byte of kernel memory.
