API key disclosure via substring URL validation
Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Information disclosure in Microsoft .NET, Visual Studio, and NuGet allows attackers to obtain a NuGet.org API key via a crafted source URL. CommandRunnerUtility.GetApiKey treats any source string containing the NuGet hostname as NuGet.org and falls back to the stored gallery key. Exploitation requires user interaction with a package push or delete operation, after which an attacker-controlled source receives the credential.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
