Remote reflected script execution via member confirmation
Published May 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Gnuboard 5.55 and 5.56 allows remote attackers to execute script in a victim's browser via bbs/member_confirm.php. The member_confirm.php handler reflects attacker-controlled request data into the generated HTML response without adequate output encoding. Exploitation requires a victim to follow or submit a crafted request; executed script can read or alter data available to that user's web session, while no service interruption is reported.
