Root shell access via hard-coded SSH credentials
Published Aug 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use of hard-coded credentials in MA Lighting grandMA2 Light allows remote attackers to obtain a root shell through SSH. The console enables SSH by default and configures the root account with the fixed password root, causing the service to accept publicly known credentials. Reachability requires access to the isolated control network; successful login grants an unrestricted Linux shell that can alter files, stop services, and disrupt lighting control.
