Authenticated code execution via unrestricted template writes
Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in GXCMS 1.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through the template management page. The Admin/Tpl/Update handler checks only that supplied filename and content values are nonempty, then passes them directly to write_file without filtering dangerous extensions. Administrative web access is required; a crafted PHP template placed under the web root executes with the web server's privileges.
