Weak cryptography in Emerson OpenBSI 5.9 SP3 and earlier allows local users to recover protected credentials and sensitive files. OpenBSI applies DES with cryptographic keys embedded in the software to protect system credentials, engineering files, and sensitive utilities. Low-privileged local access is required, and recovery of the shared keys exposes the protected material without altering the application or interrupting service.
