Authenticated data modification via unrestricted update parameters
Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Experian Hunter 1.16 allows remote authenticated users to alter protected rule and subrule metadata. Server-side Rules and Subrules updates honor added rule-name, subrule-name, and category parameters even though the interface marks those fields immutable or disabled. A valid account and crafted update request are required; modified decision data can produce untrustworthy processing results, but Experian disputes the claim because Hunter 1.16 never existed.
