Authenticated denied-subject access via wildcard queue subscription
Published Jul 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Incorrect authorization in NATS Server before 2.8.2 and Streaming Server before 0.24.6 allows remote authenticated users to read denied messages. When a positive subscription ACL covers a wildcard and a negative ACL excludes a matching subject, the queue-subscriber path omits the implicit filter needed to suppress that subject. A valid user who can create a queue subscription on the allowed wildcard can therefore receive messages from the explicitly denied subject; direct subscriptions remain blocked.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
