Local privilege escalation via use-after-free
Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
Use-after-free in Intel Virtual RAID on CPU before 7.7.6.1003 allows local users to escalate privileges through local access. Intel has not published the affected VROC component, lifetime error, or input path that triggers the freed-object access. A low-privileged local account and exploitation of a complex condition are required; successful exploitation grants elevated privileges without user interaction.
