CVE-2022-29898Network attack vector

Authenticated root code execution via integrity-check bypass

Published May 11, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Improper integrity validation in Phoenix Contact RAD-ISM-900-EN-BD firmware on all versions allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shell commands. The WebUI configuration uploader accepts files after an integrity-check value is improperly validated, allowing shell commands or arbitrary file upload to the device. Administrative access is required, and the web application runs as root, so successful exploitation grants root-level control and can alter device operation.
