CVE-2022-29897Network attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via WebUI traceroute

Published May 11, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Command injection in all Phoenix Contact RAD-ISM-900-EN-* firmware allows remote authenticated users to run root shell commands. The WebUI traceroute function accepts administrator-controlled input without adequate validation and uses it to invoke arbitrary shell commands. Administrator access to the network-reachable WebUI is required, after which injected commands obtain full control of the device operating system.
