Authentication bypass via unauthenticated LDAP settings update
Published Sep 26, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Missing authorization in Ldap WP Login / Active Directory Integration before 3.0.2 allows remote attackers to replace LDAP settings. Its init-hooked settings handler accepts an unauthenticated ldapConfig POST and writes supplied LDAP connection and bind values without authorization or CSRF validation. An attacker who controls the configured LDAP endpoint can then authenticate users against that server and bypass the site's existing authentication boundary.
