CVE-2022-29868

Local secret disclosure via process validation bypass

Published May 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Process validation bypass in 1Password for Mac 7.2.4 through 7.9.2 allows local users to read vault items and sign-in secrets. A logic bug accepts communication from a malicious local process without correctly verifying whether that software may communicate with the unlocked app. Exploitation requires targeted software running on the same Mac while 1Password is running and unlocked; exposure includes vault items, the account unlock key, and SRP-x.
