Server crash via recursive browse-path traversal
Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Uncontrolled resource consumption in OPC Foundation OPC UA .NET Standard Stack 1.4.368.53 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash HTTPS servers. MasterNodeManager.cs::TranslateBrowsePath recursively resolves attacker-supplied relative-path elements without a depth limit, exhausting the call stack. Only servers exposing an HTTPS endpoint are affected; the crafted request terminates the process without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
