CVE-2022-29840

Loopback service access via attacker-controlled URL

Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025

Server-side request forgery in Western Digital Cloud OS 5 firmware before 5.26.202 allows attackers on the local network to target loopback services. The affected URL-handling path accepts a rogue local server's modified URL and follows it back to the device's loopback adapter. The attacker must operate a rogue server on the same local network; successful requests can reach local-only services and chain separate vulnerabilities on the device.
