Insufficiently protected credentials in Western Digital Cloud NAS firmware before 5.25.124 allow local users to access protected data. The Remote Backups application stores backup credentials without encryption at a relevant endpoint, allowing credential reuse against protected data. Exploitation requires high-privilege local access to that endpoint and does not alter data or interrupt the appliance.
