Code execution via ZIP package path traversal
Published Dec 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Path traversal in Western Digital cloud-storage appliances and SanDisk ibi before 8.12.0-178 allows local users to overwrite system files. The package installer created final paths without ensuring that they resolved beneath the intended target directory. Low-privileged local access and successful custom-package installation are required; overwritten system files can enable code execution.
