CVE-2022-29836Network attack vector

Authenticated package installation via unresolved target paths

Published Nov 9, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

Path traversal in affected Western Digital home-storage devices and SanDisk ibi before 8.11.0-113 allows remote authenticated users to install packages. The HTTP API accepts attacker-controlled path parameters and creates the final package path without first resolving it beneath the intended target directory. Authenticated device access is required, and successful exploitation writes a custom package to an attacker-selected filesystem location.
