Unauthenticated code execution via language path traversal
Published Apr 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in ZoneMinder before 1.36.13 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted language settings. The loadLanguage function appends the unsanitized ZM_LANG_DEFAULT value to a PHP pathname and includes an attacker-written debug log as code. Exploitation requires the web interface to permit unauthenticated configuration and logging requests, after which code runs with the ZoneMinder web process's privileges.
