Remote code execution via CXP object use-after-free
Published Sep 12, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Use-after-free in OMRON CX-Programmer before 9.78 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by opening a crafted CXP file. The CXP parser operates on an object without validating that the object still exists, leaving a dangling memory reference that is reused during file processing. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious file or visit a page that causes it to open, and code runs with the current process privileges.
