Root access via recoverable hard-coded password

Hard-coded credentials in TOTOLINK A3100R firmware 4.1.2cu.5050_B20200504 and 4.1.2cu.5247_B20211129 allow attackers to gain root access. The /etc/shadow.sample file embeds a recoverable password for the root account, and firmware analysis recovered the shared value. Exploitation requires an authentication service that accepts the root credential; public evidence does not identify that service.
