Unauthenticated DoS via comment stack overflow
Published May 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in TOTOLINK A3100R firmware versions 4.1.2cu.5050_B20200504 and 4.1.2cu.5247_B20211129 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted POST request. The setPortForwardRules function in firewall.so copies the user-controlled comment parameter with strcpy without checking its length, overflowing a stack buffer. Exploitation requires access to the router's HTTP interface; the demonstrated consequence is denial of service, with no sourced evidence of data disclosure or code execution.
