CVE-2022-29639Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command execution via unfiltered cloud-update response fields

Published May 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Command injection in TOTOLINK A3100R 4.1.2cu.5050_B20200504 and 4.1.2cu.5247_B20211129 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute commands. The uci_cloudupdate_config function inserts unfiltered magicid and url values from a cloud-update response into shell command strings passed to system(). Exploitation requires redirecting update.carystudio.com to an attacker-controlled server and rebooting the router, after which commands run in the firmware context.
