CVE-2022-29620Public exploit

Credential disclosure via cleartext process memory

Published Jun 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cleartext credential storage in FileZilla Client 3.59.0 allows local users to recover FTP or SSH passwords from a process memory dump. After FTP or SFTP authentication, the client retains the entered username and password as unencrypted strings in process memory, including when credentials were not saved. Exploitation requires prior access sufficient to dump the client process, and FileZilla disputes that this behavior is a vulnerability.
