CVE-2022-29587Public exploit

Root filesystem access via privileged Chromium process

Published May 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper privilege management in Konica Minolta bizhub MFP devices before 2022-04-14 allows attackers to access files as root. The terminal UI launches its kiosk-mode Chromium process with superuser privileges, so a sandbox escape inherits unrestricted filesystem access. The chain requires physical access, an attached USB keyboard, User Authentication enabled, Public User Access enabled, and the separate terminal sandbox escape.
