CVE-2022-29528Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via PHAR metadata deserialization

Published Apr 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

PHAR deserialization in MISP before 2.4.158 allows remote authenticated users to execute code on the host through crafted file paths. Several file-handling paths, including AppModel::getKafkaPubTool, pass attacker-controlled phar:// locations to PHP file functions, which load and deserialize archive metadata into gadget objects. Exploitation requires an authenticated user who can upload a crafted PHAR and steer a vulnerable path; the demonstrated Kafka route also requires administrator access and an enabled plugin.
