SYSTEM code execution via installer symbolic link
Published May 31, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Local privilege escalation in ABB e-Design 1.12.2.0004 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM via its installer. The installer follows an attacker-created symbolic link and deletes the linked file while running with elevated permissions. Low-privileged code execution on the Windows host is required, and successful exploitation grants full control of the machine.
