Code execution via malformed H3D file parsing
Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Memory corruption in Altair HyperView Player 2021.1.0.27 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted H3D file. The H3D parser fails to validate user-supplied data before memory operations, allowing reads or writes beyond the intended buffer boundary. Exploitation requires the target to open the file or visit a malicious page, and successful code runs in the context of the current process.
