Administrator account takeover via unprotected password change
Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in WWBN AVideo 11.6 and dev master commit 3f7c0364 allows remote attackers to replace an administrator password. The application omits CSRF protection on objects/userUpdate.json.php, so a cross-origin POST executes under the victim's authenticated session. An administrator must remain signed in and visit attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated request replaces that administrator's password, enabling account takeover.
