Stored script execution via unescaped hover text
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Stored XSS in Image Hover Effects Ultimate for WordPress 9.7.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through hover text. The Image Hover editor stores Title and Description values without sufficient sanitization and renders them without output escaping. Administrator access is required by default; lower-privileged users can exploit the flaw only when the Who Can Edit setting grants them editor access, and injected scripts run when a user views the affected page.
