Process crash via unchecked skip-box return
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Null pointer dereference in GPAC 2.1-DEV-rev87-g053aae8-master allows remote attackers to crash MP4Box via a crafted ISO media file. The ISO box parser treats GF_SKIP_BOX as a nonfailure after clearing its output box pointer, and gf_isom_parse_movie_boxes_internal then dereferences that null pointer. The crash occurs when MP4Box hints a file containing a nested zero-size box, interrupting that process without reported data disclosure or code execution.
